SUMMARY
As a Kitchen & Events Team Member of Left Field Brewery, your role is greater than just preparing great tasting food for our guests. The Junior Cook is responsible for the execution of food menu items in an accurate and efficient manner at both the Liberty Village restaurant and at external events and pop-ups. They play a key role in ensuring that the business consistently delivers high-quality food products by maintaining a clean food-safe environment while working cohesively with the rest of the culinary team to support the successful execution of the menu from preparation to plate presentation. 

KEY ROLES
– Be enthusiastic, energetic and demonstrate a genuine positive demeanor throughout the shift while working collaboratively with all team members
– Ensure every guest receives a home run Left Field Brewery food experience
– Inventory management conducted through the accurate handling of all ingredients
– Operation systems adherence for execution, organization, and cleanliness
– Attends daily shift briefing with culinary team to receive updates on product, inventory, projected shift sales and upcoming events and promotions
– Manages food quality, portion control and plate presentation through 100% recipe adherence
– Liaison with supplier delivery employee to ensure accuracy of delivery and invoice while ensuring product quality meets standards
– Monitors and leads by example kitchen cleanliness
– Ensures BOH is compliant with all safe food handling, health & safety and WHMIS requirements
– Practices safe food handling and overall kitchen safety
– Complete understanding of F.I.F.O. and product yield
– Support standards of cleanliness, timing, uniform, organization, production, food quality, and consistency through completion of operational checklists
– Maintain the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with health and safety regulations
– Inventory all products that may need to be stocked, pulled, and/or prepped – keep management informed of food quantities and quality in prep, on the line, and in holding
– Communicate effectively between alternate shifts (am and pm) and ensure station is stocked and ready for service for current and incoming shift
– Ensure proper rotation, labelling, and dating of all products
– Ensure all products are prepared, held, and served at correct temperatures and correct visual appearance
– Accurately complete all orders with uncompromising quality and consistency as per restaurant and Kitchen Management specifications
– Complete all food production and prep sheets as well as monitoring daily prep production
– May be assigned to work multiple stations throughout the shift
– Be professional and hospitable while promoting the Left Field Brewery brand
– Possess a sincere attitude to be of service to others with a desire to succeed

EVENT-SPECIFIC
Communicates with the Assistant Events Manager, Prep team and Chef to receive updates on product, inventory, projected shift sales and upcoming events and promotions
– Prepares unsold ingredients/food for transportation
– Proactively communicates prep food and supplies inventory replenishment needs with management
– Proactively communicates kitchen equipment cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting needs with management
– Sets-up and maintains a high-impact, clean and tidy branded preparation, cooking and serving area
– Cash handling including use of mobile POS and credit/debit processing
– Set-up, break down, and clean event booth area and supplies
– Drafts and/or contributes to post-event reports and communications

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 1 year BOH experience in a full-service restaurant
– Culinary degree or diploma considered an asset but not required
– Food Safety Course and W.H.M.I.S.
– Ability to reliably travel to various locations based on fluctuating events and restaurant schedules
– Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Evening and weekend availability is mandatory
– Fluency in English both written and verbal
– Must be able to carry and lift items weighing 40lbs
– Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions
– Current and valid Food Handler Certificate
