RED DOOR FOR THE HOLIDAYS

BEER FOR EVERYBODY HOLIDAY 2023
In Support of Red Door Family Shelter

We are honoured to be in our NINTH (!) year supporting Red Door Family Shelter through the holiday season again this year, naming them as our Beer For Everybody beneficiary. Working with Red Door is one of our favourite things about the holiday season (aka. Imperial Stout Szn) and we have big goals to top last year’s donation of $5,294.

The Red Door Family Shelter has been in existence for over 40 years and operates two shelters in Toronto’s east end. The face of homelessness in Toronto is changing and it is having a devastating and disruptive effect as more families and children are in need of emergency temporary shelter. The shelters serve: 1) families that are facing a housing crisis such as eviction, 2) single moms and their children fleeing domestic abuse and 3) refugee families that are often fleeing nations plagued by war and violence.

Over the past six years and thanks to the incredible support of our community, we’ve donated over $43,000 to Red Door Family Shelter through our holiday fundraising initiatives. Again this year, we are committing $1 from every Red Door 6 Pack sold in-store and online, donations at checkout and 100% of Beer for Everybody apparel and other merchandise proceeds. Visit our Fan Shop to learn more.

ITEM DRIVE EXTENDED!
In addition to the monetary support mentioned above, we are collecting the following items-in-kind for families and children in need of emergency temporary shelter throughout the holidays and beyond. Items can be dropped off until 7PM on Sunday, December 31st in the Tap Room at 36 Wagstaff Drive.

ITEMS WITH IMPACT
Dry Pasta
Soups
Beans & lentils
Rice (max 1-2kg bags)
Cooking oils (max 1.42 L)
Cereals – especially kid-friendly options
Nutella – preferred over peanut butter
Canned veggies & canned fruits
Enfamil Baby Formula (Stages 1,2,3)
Diapers (sizes 3T, 4T, 5T, & 6T only please!)

Monetary donations from community and corporate partners allow the Red Door Family Shelter to provide programs for their residents that go beyond food and shelter. These are programs that make life a little easier for families while at the Red Door and that offer tools to achieve long-term objectives of seeking an end to family homelessness through the provision of stable housing and innovative, client-driven programs and services, while at the same time working towards ending the cycles of violence and poverty by raising awareness about social justice issues at a community level.

Beer For Everybody’s intention is to showcase and support local organizations that work to dismantle systemic inequities. This initiative is not a single campaign, but rather a statement of our beliefs and a name under which we will continue to take action to uphold our commitments to equity and inclusion. It is our belief that beer can be a powerful tool to build community, to bring people together and to drive positive change.

At Left Field, we believe in a just and equitable society for all. We do not tolerate racism, sexism, heterosexism, cissexism, ableism, ageism and other inequitable systems or forms of oppression – not only between our own four walls but also within our communities. We remain committed to actively upholding these values over the long term.
