DOUBLE-PLAY! BRICKS & MORTAR AND GLORIOSO ARE BACK.
In the late 1880s, brick was in high demand in Toronto, and our neighbourhood was home to some of the 36 brickyards in the city. Can you believe that at one point, Greenwood Park was a clay quarry? Brewed in collaboration with our neighbours, Pilot Coffee Roasters, Bricks and Mortar is our tribute to the brick industry upon which our neighbourhood was built along with our own evolution to becoming a physical brewery. Pilot’s Community Seasonal Blend of Guatemalan and Columbian beans were added in the final stages of conditioning imparting notes of ripe plum, dark honey and milk chocolate […]

WHAT THE FUNK IS A FOEDER? NEW BRETT IPA IS HERE!
It’s been a minute since we released anything from our foeders. Make some noise! Shea Brett IPA is here, and we’re so excited to have this one landing in the shop! Bursting with juicy pineapple and bright citrus, Shea IPA is brewed and dry hopped with Ekuanot, El Dorado and Amarillo hops and fermented with Vermont Ale Yeast and Brettanomyces in our oak foeders. Golden in colour, this complex and hazy IPA is medium bodied with subtle flavours of spiced clementine, cantaloupe and hay with a dry finish. Foed for thought! A foeder (pronounced FOOD-er) is a large fermentation and […]

WOVEN INTO THE FABRIC OF LEFT FIELD, THIS IS HOW WE #FLYTHEL
A few months ago, our friends at Oxford Pennant generously made us a banner that hangs proudly in our production space. It acts as a friendly reminder to Fly The L, which started simply – a way to recognize when someone was wearing Left Field apparel – but has grown to mean so much more. It represents living our core values, and playing for the crest on the front and not the name on the back. Core values like quality, teamwork, and innovation represent our collective ethos, and so does having fun! We #FlyTheL with pride, and hope that you […]

Locally grown, independently brewed. Why supporting local is important.
They say good things grow in Ontario, and we couldn’t agree more, which is why we’re so proud to brew Ice Cold Beer and Squints with local ingredients that are as thoughtfully produced as our beers. Local ingredients are beneficial because they: Support the local economy, keeping job opportunities and profit in Ontario Showcase the local terroir and the unique taste of Ontario Are more environmentally friendly as the ingredients travel a shorter distance to the brewery The fans demand it! Ice Cold Beer starts with carefully selected malt. Our friends at Barn Owl Malt in Belleville, Ontario, created a […]

PHASE 3 AND WHAT IT MEANS TO US AT LEFT FIELD BREWERY
As the province enters Phase 3 of re-opening, we’re gaining a little freedom back like catching a game at your favourite local, chopping our overgrown COVID locks, and one we’re looking forward to: (outdoor) karaoke – anyone know a good spot? As much as these savoury bites of summer are coming back to us, it still feels a bit like Groundhog Day here at the brewery. We’re running the canning line more than ever before, packaging most days throughout the week and canning anywhere between 10 to 13 thousand beers with each shift. Pre-COVID, a 42HL tank would be split […]
