Left Field Brewery Liberty Village is a 300 seat, two storey, brewery, tap room and kitchen emphasizing high quality craft beer, food and brand experiences. It’s a space to connect over a beer and to catch the game while cheering on the home team. We are in search of a Head Chef to continue evolving and growing our food program. and leading the team at our Liberty Village location.

Summary
The Head Chef oversees all aspects of kitchen and culinary operations, strategy and execution and works closely with the General Manager to ensure the ongoing success of the business. They will develop weekly menu specials to support beer launches and/or special events and will oversee our Pop-Up and concession stand food programs outside of the restaurant. 

The successful candidate must possess a passion for the culinary arts, baseball and craft beer! They are ambitious and creative in their menu development processes. They are also a great team player and show a strong sense of support and camaraderie while engaging with Left Field Brewery team members. They are responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality food, while upholding Left Field Brewery’s brand and core values.

Responsibilities
– Leads the team with enthusiasm, energy and demonstrates a genuine positive demeanor throughout shifts while motivating and leading the team
– Ensures every guest receives the desired Left Field Brewery brand and food experience and leaves eager to both return and to recommend the brand and establishment to others
– Manages and oversees all food operations, with hands-on presence on the cooking line throughout key service periods
– Develops and maintains accountability for standard operating procedures
– People progression and development training
– Ongoing core menu development and presentation including recipe methods, product sourcing, costing, training and implementation
– Works with management to ensure a working environment that is safe (both physically and psychologically), inclusive and collaborative with team members at all levels, promoting a culture of positivity and development from within
– Inventory management conducted through regular food inventory tracking and cost reporting
– Fiscal reporting; budget creation, food sales forecasting, labour, and inventory cost management
– Cross business collaboration: works with other Left Field Brewery management team (Brewing, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Retail and Events) to support overall needs of the business

Education and Experience
– Minimum 5 years commercial kitchen experience
– Minimum 2 years at a management level
– Culinary Diploma is considered an asset but not required
– Experience in a high-volume events-driven space preferred
– Experience in a restaurant and brewery operation is an asset
– Proficient computer skills including but not limited to: POS, inventory software, Google Drive (and associated programs like Google Docs, Slides and Sheets)
– Food Safety Certificate and W.H.M.I.S.
– Must be able to move items weighing 40lbs from ground level to hand carts, countertops and up/down staircases
– Must be able to stoop and bend
– Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions
– Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
