International Women’s Day 2021
We’re proud of our strong team of passionate and talented women at Left Field and today, we continue to celebrate the achievements and advancement of women in our industry and in all areas of our lives.
While we celebrate today, we also acknowledge the gender disparity in the beer community, and within our own walls. Women make up nearly half of Ontario’s workforce, but only 29 percent of the manufacturing workforce (1) and we know this is even lower for women of colour. The theme of this International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge and we choose to continue to work to build a more equitable brewery, beer community, and society.
Part of this work is the next phase of #Beer4Everybody, and we’re excited to announce that throughout April and May we will be supporting Black Women in Motion, a Toronto-based, youth-led organization that empowers and supports the advancement of black women and survivors of sexual violence. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. A challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change, so let’s all #ChooseToChallenge.
