MORGANNA: The Kissing Bandit
When we began brewing a foeder fermented sour in 2020, we knew it was going to have a big personality and we needed a name to match – enter Morganna. Known as ‘The Kissing Bandit’ and ‘baseball’s unofficial mascot’, Morganna Roberts ‘stole’ kisses from nearly 40 major-leaguers. We have always loved this brave and hilarious woman and wanted to tell her story in a way that matched our reverence and respect for her. Pale gold in colour and boasting a big haze, this zippy brew was fermented with our house ale yeast, lactobacillus and brettanomyces (Morganna kissed George Brett – […]

WHAT THE FUNK IS A FOEDER?
By nature, the beers that come from our American White Oak Foeders are one-of-a-kind. As much as we may aim to keep the recipe the same, the (good) bacteria that lives in the oak will always impart its own flavour and complexity. Though a new batch of a beer will taste very similar to the last, it’s microbially unique – cool! YOU ASKED WE ANSWERED: FOEDER FUN
Since our first foeder release in March 2019 (Waconah!) we’ve released SEVEN bottles from our 25 barrel oak foeders. It feels like we really started to get into a groove with the foeders toward the end of 2020 and we’re pretty pumped to now have four different bottles in the fridge: Bosse, St. Cloud Commons, Morganna and Crosley. Despite all being foeder brews, they couldn’t be more different from one another. A blackberry sour, Pilsner, brett dry-hopped sour and a brett IPA. So how do we decide what to brew into the foeders? Why bottles? You asked, we’re answering: Anything […]

WHAT THE FUNK IS A FOEDER? NEW BRETT IPA IS HERE!
It’s been a minute since we released anything from our foeders. Make some noise! Shea Brett IPA is here, and we’re so excited to have this one landing in the shop! Bursting with juicy pineapple and bright citrus, Shea IPA is brewed and dry hopped with Ekuanot, El Dorado and Amarillo hops and fermented with Vermont Ale Yeast and Brettanomyces in our oak foeders. Golden in colour, this complex and hazy IPA is medium bodied with subtle flavours of spiced clementine, cantaloupe and hay with a dry finish. Foed for thought! A foeder (pronounced FOOD-er) is a large fermentation and […]
